Loren O. “Hacker” Taylor, 79, of Monmouth, passed away at 9:49 p.m. Wednesday, March 23, 2022, in OSF St. Mary Medical Center, Galesburg.

He was born August 8, 1942 in Floyd Township, Warren County, IL, the son of Leroy and Harriet (Hopkins) Taylor. He was raised and educated in the Kirkwood area and graduated from Yorkwood High School in 1961. 

Hacker met and married Linda Clayton on November 20, 1964 in Monmouth, IL; she survives.

Hacker operated a corn sheller with his father-in-law, Ollie Clayton for several years.  He then drove a semi for Munson Transportation in Monmouth for many years.  He later worked for Farmland Foods as a spotter for 16 years until his retirement.  Hacker also helped Jensen Farms during harvest for many years.  He was an avid NASCAR fan, he enjoyed going to tractor pulls and auctions.  Loren enjoyed going to Cottage Corner for a good visit and a cup of coffee.   

Surviving Hacker is his wife, Linda Taylor of Monmouth, IL; his son, Jeff Taylor of Monmouth, IL; his grandchildren, Jake (Amanda Gibson) Taylor of Galesburg, Lauren (Austin Gernant) Taylor of Monmouth, IL, Addison Taylor of Macomb, IL; two great grandchildren, Makenzie Taylor, Easton Taylor; his brothers, Bill “Fig” (Pat) Taylor of Kirkwood, IL, David (Jane) Taylor of Florida, Lawrence (Pat) Taylor of Monmouth, IL; beloved sister-in-law, Judy Slater of Monmouth, IL, and brother-in-law, Bill (Nancy) Clayton of Monmouth.  Also surviving are several nieces and nephews and his beloved dog, Moose. 

He was preceded in death by his parents; his siblings, Blanche Lee, Frances Payne, Harold Taylor, Henry Taylor.

Per Hacker’s request, cremation rites have been accorded.  A gathering of family and friends will be held at a later date.  Memorials can be made to the Western Illinois Animal Rescue or the Wounded Warrior Project.  McGuire & Davies Funeral Home and Crematory, Monmouth, IL, is in charge of the arrangements.  For more information or to leave an online condolence please visit, www.mcguireanddaviesfuneralhome.com
