Loretta Powell, 83, formerly of Ellisville, passed away at 8:44 a.m. Saturday, March 19, 2022, at Genesis East Medical Center in Davenport, Iowa.

  She was born February 18, 1939 in Lewistown, the daughter of Roy S. and Hulda (McBride) Heine.  She married Gordon L. Powell on June 27, 1959 in Lewistown.  He preceded her in death on May 20, 2014.  She was also preceded in death by her parents, her son-in-law, Charles Grzanich and one grandson, Chadwick Leroy Grzanich, one brother, Raymond Heine, and one sister, Mae Armbruster.

  Loretta is survived by her children, Rebecca Grzanich of Ellisville, Kenneth (Michele) Powell of Wapello, Iowa and Eric (Sheila) Powell of Alexis; nine grandchildren, twenty great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild; and one sister, Juanita Hedden of Alexis.

  She grew up in the Canton and Lewistown areas and lived most of her life in the Ellisville area.  She was a homemaker.  She was a member of the Jehovah’s Witnesses.  Her hobbies included crocheting, and working crossword puzzles.  She was an avid bird watcher and was a member of the National Audubon Society.

  Funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, March 28. 2022, at the Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Services Abingdon Chapel.  Burial will be in the Ellisville Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday at the chapel.
