The Illinois Education Association has released their annual State of Education report with results showing a deep concern around the teacher and education shortages. Monmouth-Roseville Superintendent Ed Fletcher comments:
“It is obvious from that document that there is a lot of support for public education in Illinois. The last two years have been a challenge for all educators and a challenge for families, a challenge for kids. Hopefully we are getting past that and through the hump. I think there is a lot of public support for education. People realize the importance of schooling. The academic side of it, the social side of schooling, and the important role that teachers play in the development of children, whether it is social, or math, or science, I mean there is just a lot of support for public education.”
Also within the document are potential changes for education including salaries, pensions, student loan forgiveness for those working in education, and mental health days for educators.
