Now’s the Time to Start Pruning Trees, Shrubs and Bushes

If you have some trees, shrubs or bushes in your yard — or on your property — that need pruning, now is the time to get to work.

University of Illinois Horticulture Educator Chris Enroth, based in the Macomb extension office, explains:

“If you’re itching to get outside right now, I’d say one of the best things to be doing is pruning trees,” Enroth said during a WRAM “Community Hour” interview with host Shawn Temple. “Shade trees — like oaks and maples — before the leaves emerge, is really the best time … especially to prevent things like oak wilt.”
