If you are the parent or guardian of a 3-year-old who will be attending preschool in the fall, it’s best to schedule a screening for the student prior to enrollment.
Joe Pilger, principal at Lincoln Early Childhood School in Monmouth, shares his thoughts on the importance of the preschool and pre-Kindergarten screening process:
“On April 20th, we’ll have our developmental and preschool training, and those sessions will be held at Lincoln from 9 a.m. to noon, and then from 3:30 p.m. to 6 o’clock,” PIlger said. “If you have a child who will be three years old (by April 20), we can get them screened on that day for preschool, but we also have screening — through our Regional Office on Education — for birth through age 5.”
Pilger said the screening session is a good time to get to know kids and their families.
