Carl Sandburg College women’s basketball player Addison Eger (Mendon, Ill./Unity) has earned all-region accolades for the second straight season.
The 5-foot-9 sophomore guard was voted Second-Team All-Region IV Division II District A by coaches after leading the Chargers in scoring for the second consecutive year. Eger, who intends to stay at Sandburg next season and use her third and final year of eligibility, paced the team with 19.9 points per contest.
Eger connected on a team-leading 7.7 field goals per game, shot 44 percent from the floor and hit 76 percent of her foul shots. She also averaged 4.1 rebounds per game and a team-best 2.0 steals per contest.
Eger got off to a hot start, scoring at least 22 points in each of Sandburg’s first four games. She finished with eight 20-point efforts despite missing five contests in the middle of the season with an ankle injury. Her campaign was highlighted by a career-best 42 points on 18-of-32 shooting in Sandburg’s win Feb. 11 over Illinois Valley.
