Timothy Wilbur Smith, 76, of Galesburg, passed away on Sunday, March 27, 2022 at his home.

He was born June 13, 1945 in Monmouth, Illinois, the son of Oren M. and Mildred L. (Sowers) Smith. Tim graduated from Spoon River Valley High School in 1965. He then served in the US Navy from December 1965 to October 1969. Tim worked for Gale Products and later at Naeir for many years, until his retirement.

He was an avid baseball fan and always made sure to cheer on his favorite team, the Chicago Cubs. In his free time, he enjoyed fishing and spending time with his family and friends. Tim was a member of the Ralph M. Noble American Legion Post 285.

He is survived by one son, Timothy (Melanie Collins) Smith of Brimfield, Illinois; one daughter, Michele (Dan) Lefler of Maquon, Illinois; ten grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; one brother, Earl Smith of Galesburg; one sister, Kay Stake of Galesburg; and his girlfriend, Susan Miller of Galesburg. Tim was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Raymond Smith.

Cremation will be accorded. A memorial visitation will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday, April 2, 2022 at Watson Thomas Funeral Home and Crematory, Galesburg. Memorials may be made to the FISH Food Pantry. Online expressions of sympathy may be sent to the family at www.watsonthomas.com.

The first Chipotle restaurant is now open in Galesburg.  The Mexican grill chain opened its new location yesterday on North Henderson Street.  The company is still hiring workers for the
