United Red Storm Boys Basketball Season Ends at the Hands of Southeastern in Sectional Semifinal

The United Red Storm boys basketball season came to an end at Abingdon-Avon High School at the hands of the Southeastern Suns 51-35 in a class 1A sectional semifinal. The Red Storm fell behind 8-0 early in the first quarter before fighting back to only trail 12-9 by the end of the opening period. The Red Storm would continue their resurgence at the start of the second quarter, taking their first lead of the game at 13-12. The Suns would recover and go on another 8-0 run to regain the lead. Southeastern outscored the Red Storm 14-7 in the second stanza, leading to a 26-16 lead. United would not go away, cutting the deficit to three points midway through the third period. Again, the Suns would get the momentum back to end the quarter, taking a 38-25 lead into the final period. United got no closer than ten points in the final eight minutes, as Southeastern salted the game away from the free throw line. United ends the year at (27-7), while Southeastern improves to (29-4). The Suns will now play (26-6) Peoria Christian on Friday night at 7:00 for the sectional championship.
