The Western Illinois University Board of Trustees voted to increase tuition, fees, room and meal plan rates for new students at its March 11 Board meeting, and approved a new Office of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) under the direction of a DEI director.
The 2022-2023 tuition rate for new domestic undergraduate students on the Macomb and Quad Cities campuses will increase to $317.18/credit hour. The room and meal plan for incoming residential students at the WIU-Macomb campus will increase, and fees for incoming WIU-Macomb and Quad Cities students will also increase.
At the May 2020 BOT meeting, the Board approved a new fee structure for students at the WIU-Quad Cities campus, which takes an incremental four-year approach.
The WIU Cost Guarantee program ensures that undergraduate students pay the same rate for tuition, fees, room and meal plan for their four years of continuous enrollment. Western’s Cost Guarantee, which was the first in the state, was the model for Illinois’ Tuition Guarantee program. Today, WIU is the only public university in the state that provides the guaranteed cost structure for not only tuition and fees, but also room and board for undergraduate and transfer students. WIU also offers numerous automatic scholarship incentives.
Complete tuition, fees, room and meal plan information, along with incoming graduate and international student tuition and fees for the 2022-23 academic year, can be found in the Board materials at wiu.edu/bot.
The Office of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion will be based on the Macomb campus, and led by a director, who will report directly to the president.
The Board also approved wage reopener agreements with AFSCME Council 31 Local 417 Clerical Workers and Building Service Workers, representing 74 and 86 employees, respectively, and a bargaining agreement with the IUOE Local Union 399 Landscape Maintenance, representing 10 employees.
The Board approved a settlement with the University Professionals of Illinois Local 4100, IFT, AFT, AFL-CIO.
The full agenda and meeting materials/documents can be found at wiu.edu/bot, while the meeting audio stream recording can be found at youtube.com/user/WesternIllinoisU.
