Here’s the WMOI/WRAM Athletes of the Week for the week ending March 20, 2022:

The Monmouth-Roseville Titan Athlete of the Week is junior softball player, Ailexa Hunter. What a great start to the season for Ailexa. In her first game of the year, she hit for the cycle, going 4-for-4 with a single, double, triple AND a home run. Ailexa will also be a part of the pitching staff for the Titans this season, as well.

The United Red Storm Athlete of the Week is senior baseball player, Matt Holmes. Matt’s season got off to a great start in the Red Storm’s season-opening game against the Orion Chargers. He went 3-for-4, with an rbi. Matt’s hoping his success at the plate can help the Red Storm to yet another successful season in the win column.

The West Central Heat Athlete of the Week is senior softball player, Mackenzy Ludington. Mackenzy started her 2022 campaign with a bang, literally. In a 2-1 win over Class 3A Canton, she 2-for-2, with both of the Heat rbis. Mackenzy’s solo home run in the bottom of the 6th, proved to be the game winner.

The Galesburg Silver Streak Athlete of the Week is junior girls soccer player, Juniper Swartzman. Juniper was fantastic in goal for the Streaks in their 3rd place finish at the East Peoria Invitational. She gave up only one goal in three matches. Juniper was also perfect in a penalty kick, shootout win over Macomb, shutting out the Bombers in the extra session.

The Abingdon-Avon Tornado Athlete of the Week is freshman softball player, Taylor Ford. In her first varsity game of her career against Class 3A Galesburg, Taylor went 3-for-4, with one of those hits being a triple. She contributed to the 9-7 win by scoring two runs and also driving in a run.

Congratulations to all of these student-athletes!! Thanks to our AOTW sponsors……. McDonough Telephone Cooperative (mdtc), Tompkins State Bank, Kehoe Eye Care – Galesburg/Kehoe Eye Care – Monmouth
