Eunice D. Reynolds, 88, of Monmouth, passed away at 6:51 p.m. on Thursday, December 9, 2021 at Mercer Manor in Aledo, IL.
She was born August 12, 1933, in North Henderson, IL, the fourth of five daughters to Chester H. and Orpha (Johnson) Peterson. She was educated in Seaton and Little York schools graduating with the Little York High School Class of 1951.
She married James H. Reynolds on February 28, 1953 at her parents’ home in rural Monmouth. He preceded her in death on September 6, 2013 after a marriage of sixty years.
A devoted farm wife and mother, she was employed for many years with the Yorkwood School District and the Monmouth College Office of Admissions, among others. For forty years she was receptionist/bookkeeper in the dental practice of Philip Sexton, before retiring at age 80.
Eunice enjoyed yard sales, gardening, reading, puzzles, playing rummy and being with her family. She was a member of the Heritage Bible Church in Monmouth.
Surviving Eunice are her children, Jeff Reynolds of Palm Springs, CA, Jon Reynolds of Monmouth, IL, and Julie (Scott) Buhmann of Hobart, IN; one sister, Carol (Dwight) Boock of Seaton, IL; three granddaughters, Jaime (Sean) El Talabani, Kelly (Sean) McGuire, and Carrie (Nathan) Bell all of Hobart, IN; three grandsons, Casey Reynolds of Milan, MO, Aaron (Justice) Buhmann of Hobart, IN, and Brady (Alissa) Reynolds of Milan, MO; seven great-grandsons and one great-granddaughter. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; one son, Jay Reynolds and three sisters, Evelyn (Floyd) McCaw, Betty (Jim) Unsworth and Frances Harrison.
Cremation rites have been accorded. Memorial services will be held at the Heritage Bible Church, Monmouth, IL, Tuesday, April 12, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. Visitation will take place for one hour prior to the service. Co-interment for James and Eunice Reynolds will take place in the Warren County Memorial Park following the services. Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or the Heritage Bible Church of Monmouth and left in the care of the funeral home.
