Larry “Palsy” Greene, age 88, of Oquawka, Illinois passed away at 12:35 pm on Thursday April 21, 2022 at Monmouth Nursing Home. Larry was born on December 27, 1933 in Rushville, Illinois and is the son of Kermit and Dorothy Johnson Green. Larry was raised in Galesburg, Illinois where he attended local schools. He first married Gale Brown in 1957. Larry later married Pearl M. Sebers on September 19, 1964. She preceded him in death on October 10, 2006. Larry was first employed at Admiral Corporation of Galesburg, Illinois. He later began ” Greene Construction Company ” in Oquawka and has operated and helped folks with their construction there  for his entire career. Larry and Pearl loved to be a couple and often harassed each other in public. He loved to go fishing with his many pals on the river. He loved to go squirrel and rabbit hunting and often was known to hang out with his Pal’s at the City Dump on Third Street cleaning fish or turtles or whatever. Larry always loved to go boating on the river and often owned one of the nicest boats. Palsy is survived by his daughters, Terri L.Silberer and Josh of Oquawka, IL; Gay Lynn Hastings and Kevin of Galesburg, IL; his son, Gary L. Green of Burlington, IA; his step daughter, Gwen Sheff of Oquawka, IL; and his step son, Bill Nichols of Gladstone, IL. There are six grandchildren, Brandon Johnson, Jamie Tucker and Jesse, Bill McDermeit and Sarah, Chase Nichols, Cole Nichols, and Emily Hastings. Two great grandchildren are also surviving, Aubrey and Finley. He is preceded in his death by his parents, wife Pearl, daughter Laurie, sister Nadine, and brother Kermit. Palsy lived by the saying ” Beer at 10:00…..Windsor until the end! 

A funeral service for Larry is planned on Friday at 1:00 pm at the Turnbull Funereal Home in Oquawka, Illinois. His family plans visitation and will receive their friends from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm prior to the funeral service. Cremation will then be accorded. Following the service friends are invited to fellowship at TS 18 ( the old Oquawka Diner ). A memorial fund is being established by his family.
