The Life Flight helicopter hangar on the OSF HealthCare St. Mary Medical Center campus in Galesburg is nearing completion. St. Mary and Holy Family President Lisa DeKezel says this will greatly benefit the Galesburg, Monmouth, and surrounding communities:

“What that means is we will have the OSF Life Flight helicopter positioned in Galesburg 24/7 once that is completed. So that means timely response to the needs of our community, whether its transports out of the emergency department, whether its flying to the field to assist with those callouts from our EMS systems, it will be a much timelier response. Right now they position themselves in Galesburg during the day and go back to Peoria at the end of the day and then come out of Peoria after that time frame, but now they will be positioned in Galesburg 24/7 for a much more timely response.”

The helicopter hangar is expected to be completed by the beginning of May.
