Marie Evelynn Anderson, 93 of St. Augustine, passed away at 8:27 p.m. Monday, April 11, 2022, at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria.
She was born May 20, 1928 in Plainville, the daughter of George Herbert and Anna M. (Hull) House. She married Billy C. Anderson.
Marie is survived by two sons, Larry (Sandy) Anderson of St. Augustine and Donny (Keri) Anderson of Avon; five grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Phyllis Baker of Bourbonnais; and nieces and nephews and their families, and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Donald House and two sisters, Catherine Oyler and Eva Lewis.
Marie grew up in Abingdon and graduated from Abingdon High School in 1946. She later moved to St. Augustine, where she lived most of her adult life. She worked at Admiral/Maytag for 39 years before retiring. She loved gardening and sitting on her front porch to see who was going by in the area. In her earlier years, she enjoyed sewing. Her greatest joy was her family and sharing in all of their lives.
Graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, April 18, 2022 at the Abingdon Cemetery. Following the service, the family will continue to celebrate her life and will receive relatives and friends in a time of foods and fellowship at the Abingdon American Legion. Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Services Abingdon Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
