The Macomb Police Department is pleased to announce details of the upcoming On-Site
Assessment. The On-Site Assessment is scheduled for April 20th and 21st. During this time,
trained assessors from peer agencies across the state will arrive to conduct inspections, file
review, and audits of the police department. These representatives of the Illinois Association of
Chiefs of Police will be examining the department to ensure the Macomb Police Department is
worthy of the Illinois Law Enforcement Accreditation Program’s (ILEAP) professional status.
The Macomb Police Department was first awarded this honor in 2012. Then again, in 2017,
when we moved up to the highest ILEAP Status, Tier 2. This assessment serves as a reaccreditation at the Tier 2 level. Tier 2 expands the Tier 1 professional standards to 180 different
standards, each representing best service delivery in the areas of Training, Operations,
Administration, and Personnel. Notable highlights at the Tier 2 level involve: Community
Engagement, Victim/Witness Services, and Planning & Research.
Chief Jones, and the accreditation team, invite the public to voice their opinions, experiences,
and other information with the accreditation team. On April 20th, from 4pm to 5pm, citizens may
call in to 309-833-4505 to speak privately with the representatives from ILEAP. The assessment
team wants to hear your experiences with the Macomb Police Department and whether you, the
citizens, feel your police department should be accredited.
Once the on-site visit is completed, the assessment team confers, develops an on-site report, and
forwards the report to the ILEAP Council. The ILEAP Council discusses the Accreditation
Team’s findings and votes to determine if our agency has met the professional standards that
form the esteemed title of accreditation.
When you call in to 833-4505, press “0” and tell the Dispatcher you would like to speak with the
On-site team. They will transfer you to the assessment team who will be working in a private
area. Comments are limited to five minutes, but feel confident that your opinions will be heard
by the on-site team and forwarded to the Chief.
If you can’t call in, you may send your comments to ILEAP@macombpolice.com and your
emails will be shared with the assessment team.
