Randy E. Simpson, 73 of Oquawka and formerly of Abingdon, passed away at 4:15 a.m. Monday, April 25, 2022, at his home.

  He was born August 11, 1948 in Abingdon, the son of Merle Eugene “Gene” and Viola May (Morse) Simpson.

  Randy is survived by two granddaughters, Ashley Taylor of Galesburg and Heather Markley of Avon; his siblings, Barbara (Irvin) Benge of Sciota, Danny (Patricia) Simpson of the state of South Carolina, Richard (Sandra) Simpson of Bushnell and Donald Simpson of the state of Washington; nieces, including Ann DeJaynes who was his caregiver, nephews, aunts, cousins, and their families.

  He was preceded in death by his parents and one son, Randal Simpson.

  He attended Abingdon schools and later worked as a general laborer.  He lived in Oquawka for over 40 years.  He enjoyed fishing, hunting, mushroom hunting and spending time with his family and friends.

  Graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, April 29, 2022 at the Abingdon Cemetery.  Rev. Danny Hunt will officiate.  There will be no visitation.  Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Services Abingdon Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
