Robert “Bob” Lee Way, 92, formerly of Abingdon, died at 10:17 a.m. Tuesday, April 26, 2022 at the SSM Health St. Joseph Hospital West in Lake St. Louis, Missouri.

  He was born December 4, 1929 in Abingdon, the son of Paul A. “John” and Flossie M. Wilmoth Way, Sr.  He married Wanita Boyer on December 26, 1950 in Abingdon.

  Bob is survived by his loving wife of 71 years, Wanita; three daughters, Dawn (Mike) Sandheinrich of St. Peters, Missouri, April (Rick) Edwards of St. Peters, Missouri and Julie Way of O’Fallon, Missouri; 3 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren; and brother and sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews and their families.

  He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Jack Way and Paul Way, Jr., and two sisters, Ruth Ann Ralston and Betty Morrison.

  Bob graduated from Abingdon High School in 1947.  He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War.  He later worked at Gale Products Division of Outboard Marine Corporation in Galesburg for 35 years, retiring in 1981.  He was a member of the former Abingdon United Pentecostal Church and currently was a member of the Lighthouse United Pentecostal Church in O’Fallon.  His hobbies included fishing, gardening, playing with grandkids and talking about God.

  Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 3, 2022 at the Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Services Abingdon Chapel followed by his funeral service at 11 a.m.  Rev. Brandon Buford will officiate.  Burial with Military Rites will be at the Abingdon Cemetery.

  Memorials may be made to the Lighthouse United Pentecostal Church.  Online condolences may be made at www.h-p-w.com.
