Scots Win Five Individual Events at Meet of Champions

The Monmouth College track teams competed in the Augustana College Meet of Champions over the weekend with events on both Friday and Saturday. Jordan Peckham (Farmington, Illinois), Reed Wilson (Normal, Illinois), Joseph Oradiegwu (Richmond, Texas), Amanda Dybal (Apex, North Carolina) and Kareema Lawal (Aurora, Illinois) all won events at the meet.

Peckham won the 400m in 57.74 seconds, winning by nearly 1.5 seconds. The time is a personal career-best and the top time in the MWC this season. It also ranks sixth in school history for the 400m race. Peckham also finished fifth in the 200m race at 25.46, a new season-best and the top time in the MWC this season.

Wilson won the pole vault at 4.65m, just shy of his season high of 4.75m from two weeks ago in Beloit. Joseph Oradiegwu won the triple jump in 14.26m and finished second in the long jump at 6.94m. The long jump is a career-high for the senior and ranks first in the MWC this season. The triple jump matched his result from last weekend as a season-high and ranks second in the MWC.

Lawal won the hammer throw on Friday night with a personal best 49.57m. That throw ranks seventh in school history and atop the MWC this year. Dybal won the javelin on Friday night with a throw of 33.63m. Her throw, just short of her season best from two weeks ago, won by more than three meters. Maddie Boley (Beecher, Illinois) was third in the discus on Saturday with a throw of 42.70m, a career-high and the best result so far this year in the MWC.

Jonathan Oradiegwu (Richmond, Texas) finished second in the high jump at 1.92m. Andy Bird (Hamilton, Illinois) finished fourth in the hammer throw Friday night at 48.73m, a season best. Maurice Greene (Galesburg, Illinois) was third in the triple jump at 12.76m

Lauren Anderson (Cambridge, Illinois) finished fifth in the high jump at 1.47m, a career-high. Linsey Turner (Elburn, Illinois) was fifth in both the triple jump and pole vault. In the triple jump she went 10.52m, a season-high and the second best result in the MWC this year In the pole vault she cleared 3.05m, just below her high of 3.10.

The Scots will compete next Saturday in the True Blue Open at Illinois College in Jacksonville.
