Warren County 4-H Livestock Judging Team Senior Division Members Offer Advice to Anyone Thinking of Becoming Involved

Share

With only a few competitions left, the Warren County 4-H Livestock Judging Team has had a great year and placed very well individually and as a team. Monmouth-Roseville Sophomore Aubrey Killey enjoys judging hogs and offers this advice to becoming involved:

“I would definitely say if you wanted to get into it, then you definitely should get involved with it because it is not for anyone specifically. Anyone can get involved into it and is definitely something that teaches you a lot that can go far in life.”

Sophomore at Monmouth-Roseville Logan Corzatt says his favorite species to judge is sheep and offers this advice:

“Your first contest probably can be kind of rough; you just have to keep going and power through. The first ones are kind of rough for most people if you don’t have a lot of practice, so just keep going with it and stay committed to it.”

Also, on the Senior Division of the Warren County 4-H Livestock Judging Team is Monmouth-Roseville Freshman Sophie Russell. Russell shares she is most familiar with sheep and advises getting involved at a young age:

“If you are nervous about getting started, I would get started when you are young because it is easier to start learning when you are younger and just gain more experience as you get older.”

The Warren County 4-H Livestock Judging Team is coached by local farmer Lynn Shimmin.
