Here’s the WMOI/WRAM Athletes of the Week for the week ending April 10, 2022:
The Monmouth-Roseville Titan Athlete of the Week is senior softball player, Karliegh Ashby. Karliegh was one of the hottest hitter in the area last week. She reached base in 11 of 12 plate appearances in three games, which included going 9-for-10 with two walks. Among those nine hits, were a double, two triples and two home runs. Karliegh also knocked in seven runs and scored five runs.
The United Red Storm Athlete of the Week is senior softball player, Maddie Diaz. Maddie was on fire at the plate last week in four Red Storm games. She batted .667, going 2-for-3 in each and every one of those contests, including two doubles and two home runs. Maddie also drove in seven runs and scored 7 runs.
The West Central Heat Athlete of the Week is junior softball player, Bailey Ryan. Bailey went 3-for-3 in a close loss to a solid Kewanee ball club. Included in those three hits were a pair of doubles. In a win over North Fulton, Bailey smashed a late-game home run that gave the Heat an important insurance run.
The Galesburg Silver Streak Athlete of the Week is junior softball player, Hannah Dillbeck. Hannah started her week with a 2-for-3 day at the plate in a loss to Moline. She garnered a double and two rbis. In her second game of the week, Hannah helped her team to its first win of the season with another 2-for-3 day, this time hitting two doubles and another pair of runs driven in.
The Abingdon-Avon Tornado Athlete of the Week is senior track and field athlete, Kallie Roberson. Kallie had a fantastic day at the 17-school Lee Calhoun Meet on the track at Western Illinois University. She started her day by earning a 7th place out of 35 runners in the 100 yard dash. Kallie had an even better finish in the 100 hurdles, getting a 5th place out of 24 runners.
