Dennis L. “Dee” Chandler, 75, of Berwick, IL passed away at 9:10 pm, Sunday, May 22, 2022 at his home.
Dennis was born May 23, 1946 in Monmouth, Il the son of Loren and Marie (Brownlee) Chandler. He was raised in Smithshire, IL until he moved to rural Berwick, IL at the age of 10. Dennis graduated from Avon High School in 1964 and later graduated from Brown’s Business College in Galesburg. Following his graduation from Brown’s Business College, Dennis perused a dream of flying and earned his pilot’s license in 1967.
In 1968 he met Connie Olson and they were married at the First Lutheran Church in Monmouth on June 18, 1971 and she survives.
Dennis farmed on the family farm just southeast of Berwick for the past 51 years.
He was a former member of the Berwick Baptist Church. His biggest joy in life was being with and around his family, especially his grandchildren. Dennis was a simple family-oriented man with a quick wit and always tried to keep it light.
Survivors include his wife, Connie Chandler of Berwick; his daughters, Amanda J. (Kevin) Ross of Kahoka, MO and Julie (Jeff) Emerick of Abingdon, IL; 7 grandchildren, Karlee (Cyrus) Phillips, Trenton Emerick, Jade Ross, Schuyler Emerick, Hope Ross, Sydney Emerick and Kole Ross; great granddaughter, Andi June Phillips; his brother, James (Terri) Chandler of Monmouth, Il; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Jason D. Chandler; 2 brothers, Marshall Chandler and Richard Chandler.
Funeral services will be 2:00 pm. Thursday, May 26, 2022 at McGuire & Davies Funeral Home and Crematory, Monmouth, IL. Interment will be at Warren County Memorial Park, Monmouth, IL. Visitation will be from 5:00-7:00 pm, Wednesday, May 25, 2022 at the funeral home. A memorial fund has been established to be determined later.
