IL Lincoln College Closing

A predominantly Black college is shutting down after 157 years because of challenges from the pandemic and complications from a recent cyberattack.  Lincoln College in central Illinois opened in 1865 and has an enrollment of about 12-hundred students.  A statement Monday on the college’s website said the pandemic required big investments in technology and campus safety at a time when enrollment dropped.  A cyberattack last December trashed admissions activities and created what the school called an unclear picture of Fall 2022 enrollment projections.  Lincoln College held its final graduation ceremony on Saturday and will officially close its doors this Friday.
