Jerald “Jerry” L. Tomlin, 80, of Galesburg, IL, formerly of Monmouth, IL, passed away at 4:17 a.m., Saturday, May 21, 2022 at his home surrounded by his family.

He was born on February 21, 1942 in Monmouth, IL, the son of Lawrence R. and Dixie L. (Whitehead) Tomlin.  Jerry was raised and educated in Monmouth and graduated from Monmouth High School. 

Jerry proudly served in the United States Navy Reserve during the Cuban Missile Crisis.  He earned the National Defense Service Metal and the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal. 

He married Marilyn Sue Oldham on January 24, 1964 in Monmouth, IL; she survives.

Jerry worked as a pattern and model maker for Maytag in Galesburg for many years.  He was a member of the Monmouth V.F.W. Post 2301 and the Knoxville American Legion Post 749.  He was of the Methodist faith.  Most of all, Jerry loved to spend time with his family. 

Surviving Jerry is his wife, Marilyn Sue Tomlin of Galesburg, IL; two daughters, Lori Ann Tatro of Monmouth, IL, Melissa Lyn (Craig J.) Weber of Galesburg, IL; his grandchildren, Justin (Sam) Millard of Oneida, IL, Ryan Millard of Monmouth, IL, Katrina Tatro of Kirkwood, IL, Tara Tatro of Monmouth, IL, and Ashlie Douglas of Galesburg, IL; four great granddaughters; four great grandsons; two brothers, Richard L. (Dorothy) Tomlin of Knoxville, IL and Michael D. Tomlin of Monmouth, IL. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, sister-in-law, Dortha Tomlin; and nephew, Chuck Tomlin.    Funeral Services will be at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, May 28, 2022 at McGuire & Davies Funeral Home and Crematory, Monmouth, IL.  Visitation will be an hour prior to the service from 9:30-10:30 a.m. at the funeral home.  Interment with Military Honors will be in Monmouth Cemetery, Monmouth, IL.  Memorials can be made to the V.F.W., American Legion, or OSF Hospice. McGuire & Davies Funeral Home and Crematory, Monmouth, IL, is in charge of the arrangements.
