Local Community Organizer Karla Wallace Serving Students During 9th Annual Backpack Program

On Thursday, May 26^th, Local Organizer Karla Wallace will host the first of three events benefitting the Monmouth Backpack Program fundraiser. Beginning at 6 pm, a $3 cover includes three BINGO cards for the evening, Walking Taco’s and hotdogs will be available for purchase, plus a cash bar and local vendor tables will be set up. Fundraising for the 9^th year, Wallace shares the inspiration behind this community project:

“Well, it goes all the way back to nine years ago when I was dropping me niece off to school and there was a child there that did not have back to school supplies, and it just touched me. I went home and I sat down, and I thought about it, and it just made me get up and want to do something about it. That is what I did and here I am today still doing it.”

The next scheduled fundraising events will be held June 21^st and July 23^rd, both at the Monmouth American Legion, leading up to the grand event on July 30^th, where local students will receive backpacks full of back-to-school supplies.
