This Memorial Day, Monday, May 30th, the program will begin at 9:30 am at the Monmouth American Legion with the band performing their first concert of the year, followed by the annual ceremony says Cheri Stanton:
“The band will give their first concert of the year. This is the first one they start their season with. They will play for about half an hour and then we will start our program at ten o’clock. We have Dan Swanson coming to be our speaker and we have Krista Waller, she is very good about catching the Veterans as they come in the door for the wreath ceremony because we always place a flower on the wreath for each one of the wars. I am going to be there to do, instead of a reading; I am going to talk about remembering World War I Veterans from Warren County and what we go through to get ready for Memorial Day.”
Those unable to attend the in-person ceremony can tune into AM 1330/FM 94.1 WRAM at 10 am Monday morning for the Memorial Day program from the Monmouth American Legion.
On Sunday, May 29th, the Honor Guard will travel around to ten different cemeteries throughout Warren County and give a short reading or prayer and go right into a salute. The schedule is as follows:
Gerlaw Cemetery 10:15
Memorial Park Cemetery 11:00
