Mary S. Brown, 91, of Avon, passed away Wednesday, May 4, 2022, at 9:35 p.m. surrounded by her family in her home. She was born November 29, 1930, in Tacoma ,WA, the daughter of Joseph and Mary (Papen) Shilley. She met Max Brown while he was stationed at Fort Lewis in WA and she and Brownie were married on August 16, 1950.  Max preceded her in death on June 5, 1990.

Surviving Mary are her children, Millie Brown of Avon, Ed (Joan Stephens) Brown of St. Augustine, IL, Patty (Greg) Foose of Trivoli, IL, Elizabeth (Kelly Johnson) Brown of Columbus, MT, Tom Brown of Wilmington, NC, Jerry (Becky) Brown of Farmington, IL; 7 grandchildren, Zachary , David, Ashlee, Zac, Brice, Levi and Benjamin; 9 great-grandchildren; and 1 sister, Barbara Gregory of Bend, OR.  Several nieces and nephews also survive.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and 1 son Michael Brown.

Mary was a member of the St. Augustine Catholic Church and the Altar and Rosary Society therein. She loved living on the farm and baking her famous German chocolate cakes. She adored spending time with her family and friends.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held at St. Augustine Catholic Church Monday, May 9, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. Visitation will be 1 hour prior to the service. The family requests that masks be worn at the visitation and funeral. Interment will take place in Prairie City Township Cemetery, Prairie City, IL. Memorials may be made to the St. Augustine Catholic Church or the St. Augustine Catholic Church Altar and Rosary Society and left in the care of the funeral home. Wise Family Funeral Home in Avon is in charge of the arrangements.
