The United golf program will be added as one of the Junior High extracurricular activities this next school year. With a lot of interest from the students, there will be both a boys and girls golf team The United School Board has also approved the allowance of sixth graders to compete in Junior High sports activities with individual events, including golf, says Superintendent Jeff Whitsitt:

“We are allowing sixth graders to compete in that. We also approved that we will allow sixth graders to compete in wrestling and track as well. Our wording is that sixth graders can compete in those individual sports where numbers are quite as big a deal from a coaching standpoint and where we feel like we can actually use the extra numbers to benefit the programs.”

The United Junior High golf team is a short season. Golf play begins at the beginning of August and wraps up with the IESA State Finals around Labor Day.
