United Red Storm Baseball Advances to Regional Championship on the Perfect Arm of Nolan Leffler

Share

The United Red Storm baseball squad hosted their Lincoln Trail Conference rivals, the West Central Heat at United High School for a class 1A regional semifinal match up. The Red Storm are looking to capture a second straight regional championship. United head coach Ryan Molek sent Nolan Leffler to the mound to get one step closer. Leffler was more than adequate, going all five innings in a 10-0 win over the Heat. Leffler, a senior, faces 15 batters and retires all of them, throwing a perfect game, striking out nine of the fifteen hitters he faced. The Red Storm offense wasted no time getting Leffler a lead, getting three runs in the bottom of the 1st and seven more in the bottom of the 3rd. Leffler helped himself out at the plate, smashing a bases-clearing 3-run double in the 3rd. Cormaic Flynn contributed with three rbis as well for the Red Storm. Here’s Shawn Temple and Kevin Tyrrell’s radio call of the final out on AM 1330 WRAM.
