United Red Storm Baseball Preparing for Second Straight Regional Championship Game

The United Red Storm baseball team will be playing for its second straight class 1A regional championship on Saturday morning. The Red Storm will take (20-6) record into their match up with the (11-11) North Fulton Wildcats.

Both teams qualified for the finals in very different ways. The Wildcats got a 7-5 win over Southeastern on Thursday. North Fulton trailed the Suns 4-2 heading into the bottom of the 6th and exploded for five runs to take a 7-4 lead. Southeastern pushed across a run in the top of the 7th and had the tying run on first with one out and a double play groundout ends the threat and the game with North Fulton getting the 7-5 win.

United had no trouble with West Central winning 10-0 in five innings. The game DID have some excitement however, Red Storm senior starting pitcher Nolan Leffler threw a five inning perfect game on just 56 pitches. United, which started the year at (1-3), has won five in row and 10 of its last 11 games. Head Coach Ryan Molek says the Red Storm might be playing their best baseball of the season at the perfect time.
