Chief Deputy Matthew Link had the pleasure of presenting the winner of the 2022 Illinois Sheriff’s Association scholarship for Henderson County at the West Central High School senior academic awards night. The Illinois Sheriff’s Association provides an annual scholarship for county for students in furthering their education and training through an Associate Membership Program. Requirements for the scholarship include that the applicant must be a permanent resident of Illinois and they must enroll in a full-time certified institution within the state of Illinois. Scholarship funds are intended to assist the student with tuition costs, books, and fees. Henderson County students were given the opportunity to apply for one $500 scholarship to be used for the 2022/2023 school academic year. This year we received a total of eight applicants for consideration. Sheriff Donald Seitz appointed a community member to review the applications. This year’s winner of the scholarship is Ross Vancil. Congratulations and good luck in the future Ross!
