Here’s the WMOI/WRAM Athletes of the Week for the week ending May 8, 2022:

The Monmouth-Roseville Titan Athlete of the Week is junior baseball player, CJ Johnson. CJ was great at the plate AND on the pitching rubber last week. Against a quality Orion ball club, he was 2-3 with a double and an rbi. CJ earned the pitching win against United later in the week, going six innings, giving up just one hit, no runs and striking out 15 hitters.

The United Red Storm Athlete of the Week is junior bass fisherman, Deven Bushong. Deven’s fishing prowess helped his Red Storm boat #2 earn a 5th place out of 22 boats at the Sectional tournament on Lake McMaster in Victoria. The boat was just 5 ounces from advancing to the state finals. Individually, Deven’s catch of 3 lbs 7 oz was the second biggest fish of the day in the Big Bass competition.

The West Central Heat Athlete of the Week is senior girls track and field athlete, Breanne Kidd. Breanne earned a pair of top-10 finishes at the Lincoln Trail Conference meet at Mercer County High School in Aledo. She was 4th in the long jump competition and 8th in the triple jump. Earlier this season, Breanne was 2nd in each event at the West Hancock Titan Invitational.

The Galesburg Silver Streak Athlete of the Week is senior girls track athlete, Kaylee Allen. Kaylee is a three-time Western Big Six Conference champ after her performance in Rock Island. She was victorious in the 100 and 200 meter dashes. Her 4×200 meter relay team also crossed the finish line first, as well.

The Abingdon-Avon Tornado Athlete of the Week is senior baseball player, Micah Rodeffer. Micah had a phenomenal day at the plate in a blowout win over Lewistown. He went 4-for-5, scoring two runs, with four rbis and two stolen bases. Micah also helped out in the win on the pitching mound, going 2.2 innings, giving up only three hits and two earned runs, with four strikeouts.
