Craig L. Bergren, formerly of DeKalb, passed away suddenly Saturday, December 25, 2021 at his home in Schaumburg, Illinois. Craig was born July 10, 1959, at Highland Hospital in Belvidere and was the fifth of five sons born to Louis and Vera (Hughbanks) Bergren. He was a member of the First Lutheran Church in DeKalb, confirmation class of 1973. He graduated from DeKalb High School in the class of 1977. He was an Eagle Scout. He graduated from the University of Illinois in 1981 where he was an All-American Rugby player. He was employed at Motorola International Division for 25 years. He was currently employed at Jackson-Hewitt Tax Services and an enrolled agent of the Internal Revenue Service. Craig is survived by his mother, Vera Bergren of Naperville, Illinois He is also survived by his brothers, Charles “Chuck” and Martha Dewey Bergren of Naples, Florida, Bruce Bergren of Homewood, Illinois, Mark Bergren and Susan Hain of Naperville, Illinois and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in his death by his father, Louis, and his brother, Kent. 

Cremation and a memorial service, took place in Schaumburg, Illinois at the time of his passing. His cremated remains were sent to Turnbull Funeral Home in Monmouth, Illinois and it is planned that a memorial committal service will be at 11:00 am on Saturday July 9, 2022 at the Biggsville Township Cemetery in Biggsville, Illinois. A memorial fund is being established in his memorial for the Boy Scouts of America.
