John R. Morris, Jr., 60, of Monmouth, IL, passed away at 10:58 a.m., Saturday, June 18, 2022 at home, surrounded by his family.

He was born on May 4, 1962 in Galesburg, IL, the son of John “Dick” and Elizabeth “Betty” Morris.  John was raised in rural Henderson in Knox County, IL, and he attended school in Wataga and Galesburg and graduated from Galesburg High School in 1980.   

John married Rose Wright on June 18, 1996 in Las Vegas, NV; she survives.

John worked at Maytag for 21 years and later worked at Yemm Ford for 11 years.  He enjoyed golfing, riding his motorcycle.  Most of all, he loved to spend time with his family, friends, and especially his grandchildren.  

Surviving John is his wife, Rose Morris of Monmouth, IL; his children, Crystal Corry of Monmouth, IL, Heather (Wes) Coursey of Monmouth, IL, Tanya (Charlie) Campbell of Monmouth, IL; his grandchildren, Aiden Corry, Kiera Campbell and Logan Campbell.  Also surviving is his sister, Mary (Nick) Watson of Momence, IL, Nancy (Ray) Budde of Galesburg, IL, Sue (Robin) Luken of Galesburg, IL; one brother, Duane (Cindy) Morris of Pickney, MI and numerous nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

A Gathering of Family & Friends will be from 3:00-5:00 p.m., Saturday, July 2, 2022 at McGuire & Davies Funeral Home and Crematory, Monmouth, IL.  Cremation rites have been accorded.  In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to his Grandchildren’s Education Fund and sent to the funeral home.  McGuire & Davies Funeral Home and Crematory, Monmouth, IL, is in charge of the arrangements.  For more information or to leave an online condolence please visit, www.mcguireanddaviesfuneralhome.com
