Congressman Darin LaHood (R-Dunlap) announced that Vice President Mike Pence will join him as a special guest and the keynote speaker for the joint 2022 Lincoln Day Dinner with the Peoria and Tazewell County Republican Central Committees. The dinner will be held on June 20, 2022. The Peoria-Tazewell Lincoln Day Dinner is one of the largest events in Illinois Republican politics, with Republican activists, leaders, officeholders, and prospective candidates from across Illinois coming to speak to voters.

“Vice President Mike Pence is a conservative champion who has been on the frontlines to defend our Midwest values and promote Republican candidates across the country. I am honored that he will join us as the keynote speaker for the 2022 Peoria-Tazewell Lincoln Day Dinner,” said Congressman Darin LaHood. “As a former Governor and House Republican, Vice President Pence understands the importance of firing Speaker Pelosi for good and defeating Governor JB Pritzker. Illinois will be a key battleground for taking back the House this November, and I look forward to welcoming Vice President Pence to Peoria.”

“President Biden and Governor Pritzker’s radical left agenda are leading Illinois and America down a path of decay and decline,” said Vice President Mike Pence. “With conservative leaders like Darin LaHood and Esther Joy King in Congress, we can restore American energy independence, reestablish strong American leadership, and revive the economy that was the strongest in American history during the Trump-Pence administration. I look forward to joining Peoria and Tazewell conservatives to discuss our shared vision for the future of Illinois.”

“The November elections are critical for the future of Illinois and our country,” said Peoria and Tazewell County Chairmen Stephen Morris and Jim Rule. “We are grateful to Vice President Mike Pence for joining us this year and excited to jointly host one of the largest events in Illinois Republican politics. Our state and country are at a crossroads, as one-party Democrat rule in DC and Springfield harms our communities. Vice President Pence will be an excellent keynote speaker to underscore the importance of taking back the House, defeating Governor JB Pritzker, and supporting Republican candidates up and down the ballot in Illinois.”

The Peoria and Tazewell County Lincoln Day Dinners have a rich history of hosting visionary Republican leaders, including Congressman Jim Jordan, Former Secretary of Energy and Governor of Texas Rick Perry, Republican National Committee National Finance Chair Todd Ricketts, and Former Secretary of the Interior and Congressman Ryan Zinke. The central and northwestern Illinois region also has a rich political history. President Abraham Lincoln served this same region during his one term in Congress from 1847 to 1849, President Ronald Reagan was born and lived in the area during childhood and attended Eureka College, and President Ulysses S. Grant resided in Galena.

A native of Indiana, Mike Pence served as the 48th Vice President of the United States. As one of the most consequential vice presidents in American history, Pence helped spearhead key conservative victories, including once-in-a-generation tax reform, USMCA, pro-life protections, and judicial and Supreme Court appointments. Pence served as Governor of Indiana and was a member of the U.S. House where he served as Chairman of the House Republican Conference and the conservative Republican Study Committee.

LaHood, who is the National Finance Chair for the National Republican Campaign Committee (NRCC) and a co-chair of the Trump-Pence campaign in 2020, is running for reelection in the 16th Congressional District of Illinois, which includes parts of Peoria and Tazewell Counties. The 17th Congressional District of Illinois, which includes parts of Peoria and Tazewell Countries, will be a key race in the battle for control of the U.S. House. In 2020, Republican Esther Joy King nearly defeated Cheri Bustos and King will be in a strong position to win in 2022.
