The Annual Cops and Bobbers Monmouth Fraternal Order of Police Fishing Derby will be held Saturday, June 4th from 8 am to noon at Citizen’s Lake. Investigator Josh Kramer shares more on what the FOP is all about:

“It is basically a union organization of police officers across the United States. We form together not only with our union business, but our community business as well. We have fundraisers that we raise money throughout the year for events such as the fishing derby, we just gave out two scholarships to the Monmouth-Roseville and United school district seniors that will be pursuing a degree in law enforcement, medical services, first responders. Then later in the fall, we have our Power for Seniors where we raise money for Ameren cards, we have a big luncheon for the elderly in the community to help them with their power bills. Then we have our Shop with a Cop program where we take roughly around 30 kids in the community, we take them shopping and make sure they have a good Christmas.”

The 16th Annual Cops and Bobbers fishing derby will be held at Citizen’s Lake in Monmouth for ages 2 to 15 years old. Anyone 16 and older assisting will be required to have a valid fishing license.
