Robert A. Boyd Sr,70, of Monmouth, IL, passed away at 12:29 pm, Saturday, June 4, 2022 at his home.

Bob was born January 29, 1952 in Monmouth, IL the son of Robert E. and LaRita Lou (Opp) Boyd.  He was raised and educated in Monmouth, graduating from Monmouth High School.

Robert served with the United States Army during Vietnam.  

Bob married Cynthia Jean Millard on July 31, 1981.

Bob worked at Wilson Foods from 1980-1985 and was currently working at Save-A-Lot both in Monmouth.  He also bartended at local taverns for several years.

He was an avid Chicago Cubs and Bears fan. He enjoyed mushroom hunting, hanging out with his buddies, drinking beer and listening to the Cubs games on his porch.  He loved watching and attending the many activities of his granddaughter, Natalie.

Survivors include his granddaughter, Natalie Boyd of Monmouth; his sister, Mary (Donald) Garrett of Monmouth; his aunt, Marlene Boyd of Galesburg and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.  Also surviving are his dear friends, Brad Scanlon, Ed Ishmael and Karen Gipson.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Robert A. Boyd, Jr. and 3 brothers, Steve Boyd, James “Jimbo” Boyd and Michael Boyd.

A Gathering of Family and Friends will be from 1:00-3:00 pm, Saturday, June 11, 2022 at McGuire & Davies Funeral Home and Crematory, Monmouth, IL.  Cremation will take place following the Gathering with a private family interment at Warren County Memorial Park at a later date.  Memorials may be given to the Natalie Boyd Education Fund and sent to the funeral home.
