The world’s largest Corvette show is returning to its roots this weekend in central Illinois for the first time since the ’70s.
Bloomington Gold, known for drawing 2-thousand Corvettes and over 10-thousand people, is returning to Bloomington-Normal Friday and Saturday.
The two-day event kicks off Friday night with a Gala featuring prime Corvettes at the Brown Ballroom at Illinois State University.
And then on Saturday, the cars are putting on a parade.
“We are going to come out of Normal and head north up to old Route 66. The cars are going to go down Route 66, around Towanda, and then they will head up north and go around Lake Bloomington. After they go around Lake Bloomington, they head back south down into uptown Normal. The city of Normal is putting on a block party. The show I want to make sure everybody understands, it is open to the public, you don’t have to own a corvette, it doesn’t matter, just come and see some great cars and have fun. Children 12 and under are free.”
According to the Bloomington-Normal Visitors Bureau, the twin-cities are expecting over 1-million dollars in money coming in.
