The 169th annual Mercer County Fair gets underway Tuesday, July 12th and runs through Saturday, July 16th at the fairgrounds in Aledo. Several daily events are on tap for all ages, with the kids being the backbone of the entire county fair, says Fair Board President Rita Williams:
“The kids work so hard at it and that is really the main backbone of our county fairs, their 4-H projects, their FFA projects. Both of those organizations are fantastic for kids and not just for showing at the fairs, but a lot of their life skills they get from there. We have some events that we have had for many years, we have a couple that we just added recently and have become very popular, and then we have one new event this year.”
