The Next Generation Fuels Act was introduced in August of 2021 by Representative Cheri Bustos to promote low-carbon, high-octane fuels, protect public health, to improve vehicle efficiency and performance, and for other purposes. In the midst of an election year, an act that started with the Illinois Corn Growers Association, local farmer and Illinois Corn Growers Association Industrial Committee Chair, Rob Elliott, says the bill needs to be acted on now:
“One of the things that is happening right now, this Next Generation Fuels Act, it will need to be acted on in this Congress. With an election coming up, that opportunity will come to an end. It will have to start over with the next Congress. That is why there is foot on the pedal and trying to push, but so many distractions in Washington, DC, it can be a challenge at times to get the attention of the large body.”
The 117th United States Congress term will conclude on January 3rd, 2023.
