Industry man facing sexual assault charges

On July 7, 2022, at 1:30 p.m. the McDonough County Sheriff’s Office was contacted by McDonough District Hospital Staff about a possible sexual assault of a juvenile female being treated at the emergency room. Detectives responded and met with the juvenile female and her mother. The Department of Children and Family Services was contacted to assist in the case. Detectives were able to develop a suspect in the case based on interviews with the family.

On July 8, 2022, at 12:15 p.m. the McDonough County Sheriff’s Office and DCFS responded to 201 North Reed Street in Industry, IL. Deputies took into custody, Cody M. Barger, 26, of Industry.

Barger was charged with Aggravated Criminal Sexual Assault and lodged in the McDonough County Jail pending a bond hearing.

All subjects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
