James C. “Jim” Sloan, 63, of Monmouth, IL passed away at 3:03 pm, Tuesday, July 5, 2022, at his home.

Jim was born September 22, 1958, in Toledo, OH the son of Clifford and Marilda (Dickson) Sloan. He was raised and educated in Toledo.

Jim married Leila Skees in Monmouth, IL on December 31, 1992, and she survives.

Jim was a forklift driver at Smithfield Foods in Monmouth for 30 years.

Jim loved golfing, fishing, going to concerts and the casino.  He enjoyed meeting and making lots of friends. Jim was an accomplished golfer with several holes in one at Gibson Woods and one at the Golf Hall of Fame course in Florida.  He also won the City Championship twice.

Survivors include his wife Lelia Sloan of Monmouth; his son, Mike (Maria) Hale of St. Petersburg, Fl; 3 sisters, Pamela (Kenneth) Baker of Clermont, FL, Patricia (Lee) Whittle of Toledo, OH and Inez Carter of Galesburg, IL; several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Cremation has been accorded.  A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, July 16, 2022 at Gibson Woods Golf Course Clubhouse from 5:00 – 7:00 pm.  Memorials may be given to Gibson Woods Golf Course and sent to the funeral home.
