Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of 45 years, Teri; his sons, Jeff (Melanie) Squire of Abingdon, Joel (Jennifer) Squire of West Lafayette, Indiana, Jared (Stephanie McCurry) Squire of Knoxville, Patrick Squire and James Squire both of Minnesota; six grandchildren, Madison Squire of Knoxville, Mitchell Squire of Knoxville, Jayden Squire of Abingdon, Jaycie Squire of Abingdon, J.T.   He was preceded in death by his parents, his twin brother, Jon Squire, brothers-in-law, Larry French, Richard Corbin and John Hajostek.

He graduated from Galesburg High School in 1966.  He then served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War as a machine repairman.  He worked at the former Gale Products in Galesburg, where he served a tool and die apprenticeship and became a journeyman toolmaker.  He later worked at J.H. Benedict in East Peoria for 24 years until his retirement in 2010.  He was a member of the Coldbrook Christian Church and later transferred his membership to the Abingdon Christian Church. He was a member of IAM Local #360 and the Harry E. Wiles American Legion Post#381 in Abingdon.

He loved his family and was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend.

Jan always loved to tell a good joke and also hear one.  He loved his beer, his cigarettes and he enjoyed a good fire in the fire pit.  He also enjoyed car rides and golfing, and in his earlier years, fishing.

Funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, August 1, 2022, at the Abingdon Christian Church, 409 S.
