Joy R. Stephens, 80, of Monmouth, IL, went home to be with her Savior, Jesus Christ at 9:10 pm, Tuesday, July 12, 2022 in Peoria, IL.

Joy was born January 29, 1942 in Centralia, IL the daughter of Charles Arthur and G. Irene (Nogle) Fairchild.  She was raised and educated in Sandoval, IL, graduating from Sandoval High School in 1958.  She later attended Illinois Wesleyan University as a music major.  After raising her family, Joy graduated from Monmouth College in 1988 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Accounting.  Joy later earned her Master of Business Administration in Accounting from Colorado State University in 2004. Joy worked as a Certified Public Accountant.

Joy married Jack Kenneth Stephens in Heyworth, IL on August 10, 1961 and he passed away on July 11, 2022.

Joy worked at Warren School from 1974-1987 as a school bus driver, Shoemaker & Cavanaugh from 1987-1989 as a bookkeeper, National Bank of Monmouth from 1989-1995 as an internal auditor, Midwest Bank of Western Illinois from 1995-2007 as Vice-President and Comptroller. Joy was a an accomplished pianist and following her retirement she served as accompanist for the high school musicals and junior high chorus for the Monmouth-Roseville School District.

She was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church in Monmouth.  She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, playing the piano, listening to music, gardening, and serving her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Survivors include her 2 sons, Keith (Karen) Stephens of Mascoutah, IL and Douglas (Andrea) Stephens of Roanoke, VA; 8 granddaughters, Amber (William) Flanagan, Lindi Roberts, Brie (Craig) Rainey, Karis Stephens, Abigail (Jaelon) Albert, Marguerite Stephens, Madelynn Stephens; 7 great grandchildren, Ashleigh Flanagan, Conor Flanagan, Karson Roberts, Aaliyah Rainey, Josiah Rainey, Marley Albert & Roman Albert; several niece and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brothers, Raymond Fairchild, Charles Fairchild, Orrie Fairchild and Robert Fairchild; sister, Aleatha Cary.

Funeral services will be 11:00 am Saturday, July 16, 2022 at Immanuel Baptist Church, Monmouth, IL.  Interment will be at Warren County Memorial Park.  Visitation will be from 4:00-7:00 pm, Friday, July 15, 2022 at McGuire & Davies Funeral Home and Crematory, Monmouth, IL.
