Margaret H. Lafferty, 85, of Alexis, IL, passed away at 10:20 p.m. Friday, July 08, 2022 at Roseville Care Center in Roseville IL.

Margie was born January 13, 1937, in Monmouth, the daughter of J. Leo and Helen “Eileen” (Barry) Flanagan in Monmouth, IL. She married Richard (Dick) Lafferty on July 11, 1958 in Monmouth and he preceded her in death on January 12, 2021.

Survivors include two sisters: Elizabeth (William) Kasak of Clearwater, FL and Barbara (Jim) DeWispelaere of Davenport, Iowa; five children: Lisa Johnson of Cambridge IL, Tim (Kelly) Lafferty of LaHarpe, IL, Deb Lafferty-Copeland (Rich) of Venedy IL, John (Sara) Lafferty of Sperryville VA, and Barb Lafferty of Alexis, IL; seven grandchildren: Kasey Lafferty, Zach Johnson, Andrew Johnson, Michael Lafferty, Brian Lafferty, Ceara Lafferty and Conor Lafferty; and three great-grandsons. She was preceded in death by her husband and her parents.

Margie was raised on farms in rural Raritan and Cameron and graduated from Monmouth High School. She was a devoted wife, mother, and homemaker. She provided in-home childcare for many years and those who spent time in her care remained forever dear to her heart.  She was a member of St. Theresa Catholic Church in Alexis.

Cremation rites will be accorded. Wise Family Funeral Home of Alexis and Roseville is overseeing the arrangements. Per Margie’s wishes, no formal services shall be held.
