Midwest Conference Names 165 Monmouth College Student/Athletes as MWC Academic All-Conference

Baseball leads the way for Monmouth with 19 selections

MONMOUTH, ILL. (07/15/2022) Monmouth College had 165 student-athletes, representing 17 sports, named Midwest Conference Academic All-Conference on Friday.

Of those 165 student-athletes, 98 represent women’s teams while 67 come from men’s teams. The baseball team leads the way with 19 overall selections while the women’s indoor and outdoor track & field teams both had 18 honorees. Football (14), softball (13), volleyball (12) and women’s soccer (12) were also in double digits. Volleyball and softball had the second most selections in the MWC while both women’s track & field teams were third and baseball was fourth.

The Scots had 57 selections from fall sports, 47 from winter sports and 61 from spring sports. In addition to these MWC Academic All-Conference selections, the Scots put three men’s golfers on the SLIAC Academic All-Conference team last month plus five men’s lacrosse players were honored in the MLC and nine women’s players by the MWLC. Overall, Monmouth had 182 Academic All-Conference honorees in the three conferences for which they participate in athletics for the 2021-22 academic year.

Representing the league’s 18 sponsored sports, the MWC Academic All-Conference team features 761 award winners participating in men’s sports and 708 women’s sports participants. The criteria to be recognized as an Academic All-Conference selection includes having satisfied a minimum grade-point average (GPA) of 3.33, which is calculated only in the awarded academic year.

Last month, Ben Dobberstein, Jimmy Johnson and Max Cook were named SLIAC Academic All-Conference for men’s golf. Also in June the MLC and MWLC announced their Academic All-Conference selections. For men’s lacrosse, Xandru Borst, Gavin Conway, Jeffrey Knapp, Liam Meyer and Mason Sanford were honored. For women’s lacrosse, Hadyn DeLeeuw, Mel Fairand, Courtney Fisher, Mackenzie Holmes, Olivia Matlock, Madison Meldrum, Sarah Poirier, Elizabeth Schmidt and Lindsey Turnquist were honored.
