Over 100 bed quilts, wall hangings, table runners, home décor, and Challenge Quilts will be on display this Saturday and Sunday at the Piecemakers Quilt Guild Bi-Annual Quilt Show at the Knox County YMCA, 1324 West Carl Sandburg Drive in Galesburg. “Quilts Across America” is this year’s theme and Member Diane Federow highlights one special event taking place during the show:
“We have a Lincoln Quilt made by Myrtle Irene Ashworth in 1976 for the bicentennial. It won Third Place at the Ohio State Fair and was purchased by one of our members, Sheryl Hinman in 2020. Sheryl has been researching the quilt and has donated it to the Illinois Museum. Since we have the Lincoln Quilt, we also have a Lincoln Presenter, Mr. Rick Otley from Tripoli, IL. He will be on hand both days. He recently accompanied the Honor Flight to Washington, D.C. and gave one of Lincoln’s speeches at the Lincoln Memorial.”
The “Quilts Across America” display can be viewed Saturday, August 6th and Sunday, August 7th from 10 am to 4 pm each day. There is a $5 entrance fee.
