Barbara J. Olin, 90, of Alexis, IL, passed away at 6:10 pm, Thursday, August 25, 2022, in Galesburg, IL.

She was born August 9, 1932, in Galesburg, IL, the daughter of Fred and Maybelle (Noonan) Van Fleet.  Barb was raised and educated in Alexis, IL and graduated from Corpus Christi High School in 1950.  She later attended Marycrest College in Davenport, IA. 

Barb married Daniel Richard “Dick” Olin at St. Theresa Catholic Church, Alexis, on December 20, 1951, and he passed away March 29, 2004.

Barb was a farm wife, mother and homemaker.  She worked as a CNA at Monmouth Hospital for a time and also as a library assistant at the Alexis Elementary library.  Barb was an avid reader, and enjoyed gardening, collecting antiques, and supporting her grandchildren’s activities.  Barb loved her morning coffee with her friends in Alexis.  She was a lifelong member of St. Theresa Catholic Church in Alexis and served on the Altar and Rosary Society. 

Survivors include her sons, Bill (Kris) Olin, Andover, IL, and Mark (Trinette) Olin, Alexis, IL; daughters, Kathy (Mike) Flanigan, Normal, IL, Micki (Reid Abrams) Olin, La Jolla, CA, Mary Ann (John) Hunt of Libertyville, IL, and Janie (Rich) Sullivan of Davenport, IA; 17 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; one sister, Judy (Jim) Nelson of Plymouth, WI; several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; beloved husband; two brothers, Fred Van Fleet and Donald Van Fleet; one sister, Beverly Johnson.

Mass of the Christian Burial will be 10:30 am Monday, August 29, 2022, at St. Theresa Catholic Church in Alexis, IL. Interment will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, (Alexis Cemetery).  A Rosary service will be at 3:30 p.m. Sunday, August 28, 2022, at McGuire & Davies Funeral Home and Crematory, Monmouth, IL. Visitation will follow from 4:00-6:00 p.m.    Memorials may be given to Woodridge Supportive Living Facility or Hospice Compassus, and sent to the funeral home.  For more information or to leave an online condolence please visit, www.mcguireanddaviesfuneralhome.com
