NOTICE: Amtrak Carl Sandburg cancelled Aug 2-7 due to equipment shortage

Effective, Tuesday, Aug 2 through Sunday, Aug 7, Amtrak is canceling the Carl Sandburg between Quincy and Chicago with no alternate transportation. The Carl Sandburg departs Chicago each morning as train number 381, then returns from Quincy to Chicago each evening as train number 382. This cancellation is happening as a result of equipment shortages. We are working diligently to bring sufficient coaches back online to fulfill schedule requirements starting next Monday.

Amtrak Customer Service Representatives are contacting customers booked on these trains directly to arrange for refunds or re-accommodation aboard the Illinois Zephyr, which will still operate through this period. We sincerely regret this inconvenience to our customers and appreciate patience while we work to get through this shortage.
