Carole L. Lafferty, 88, Alexis, IL, passed away at 12:45 p.m. Tuesday, August 30, 2022, at the Monmouth Nursing Home, Monmouth, IL. She was born June 18, 1934, in Centerville, IA, the daughter of Earl and Vala (Wilson) Anderson.

She was raised and educated in the Alexis area graduating from Alexis High School in 1953. She married George D. Lafferty on Sept. 7, 1952 and he preceded her in death on March 26, 2020.

Surviving Carole is one son, J.R. Lafferty of Alexis; one daughter-in-law, Susie Lafferty of Aledo; six grandchildren, Jenny (Trent) McKeown, Justin (Angie) Lafferty, Janelle (Eric) Duckwiler, Erin Lafferty, Amber (David) Davis and Andy (Karinne Bredberg) Lafferty; 12 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband and one son, Gary “Butch” Lafferty.

With her husband, George, Carole owned and operated the Alexis Laundromat for more than 30 years. She was also a homemaker. She was a member of the James Harvey American Legion Women’s Auxiliary for 68 years. She was also a member of the Alexis United Presbyterian Church. She enjoyed playing the piano. Her greatest joy in life was spending time with her family.

Cremation rites have been accorded. A graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, September 2, 2022, in the Alexis Cemetery, Alexis, IL.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Alexis United Presbyterian Church and left in the care of the funeral home.
