Delores Jean Patch, 91, of Smithshire, IL, passed away Thursday, August 4, 2022, at 10:35 p.m. at Oak Lane Nursing and Rehab in Stronghurst, IL. She was born November 7, 1930 in Media, IL, the daughter of Erick and Irene (Hull) Rothzen. She married Ballard Waddell on October 13, 1948. To this union, one son, Randy Lee Waddell was born. Ballard preceded her in death January 24, 1956. She married Harold Brent Patch on November 17, 1957 in Monmouth and together they had one daughter, Deanne Irene (Patch) Kane. Harold preceded her in death August 27, 2008. Delores attended Barry Grade School in Media Township. She graduated from Media Weaver High School in 1948. She worked for several years at Bush’s Station west of Roseville. Later she worked at Formfit in Monmouth. Upon marrying Harold, she became a dedicated farm wife and mother of two. She helped on the farm raising hogs and chickens. During the fall she was instrumental in hauling corn and soybeans to the elevator while providing warm meals to the fields. She enjoyed gardening her flowers and vegetables. Spending time with her family was her greatest joy in life, especially with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Delores was an active member of the Roseville United Methodist Church, having served on numerous committees. She served as a Sunday School and VBS teacher, was an active member of the United Methodist Women’s circle, and kitchen committee. She was also a past election judge for Ellison Township and past Roseville School Board member. Surviving Delores are her children, Randy (Mary) Waddell of Monticello, IL, Deanne (Frank) Kane of Roseville; six grandchildren, Holly (Zach) Zimbelman (McCoy and Hal) of Indianapolis, IN, Bryce (Julia) Waddell (Avelie) of Livingston, MT, Kerby (Chidi) Obia of Downers Grove, IL, Erick (Christine) Kane (Megan and Alex) of Ottawa, IL, Kevin (Ashley) Kane (Lindy and Emery) of Smithshire, IL, Michael (Kortni) Kane (Dana, Hallie, Charlee, Payton and Taylor) of Mediapolis, IA; one brother, Richard (Sherry) Rothzen of West Burlington, IA; brother-in-law, Rolland Patch of Carbondale,IL. She was preceded in death by her parents; both spouses; brother, Donald Rothzen; sisters, Mary Rothzen and Shirley Melvin. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home Saturday, August 13, at 1:00 p.m. Visitation hours will be held prior to the services from 11:00 a.m-1:00 p.m. Interment will be in the Warren County Memorial Park Cemetery, Monmouth. Memorials may be made to Oak Lane Nursing and Rehab, Stronghurst, or the Roseville United Methodist Church and left in the care of the funeral home.
